Last year, our moon was destroyed by a collision with an asteroid. Here's how life has changed on Earth-
Nights have become very dark. However, star gazing has become better than ever. We have been able to see stars far outside of our solar system due to our dark nights. The moon was stabilizing our axial tilt. Now, our axis is at about 34 degrees. Our day and night cycle has been thrown out of whack, and scientists think our axis will settle at about 85 degrees. This is similar to Uranus, meaning that each hemisphere would be dark for half the year. As a human race, we don't know how we'll adapt to that change. When our hemisphere is in light, temperatures would be so warm, scientists don't know if life could adapt and survive. Engineers are diligently working to create a satellite that they feel could help stabilize our axis again. Many, however, are skeptical. One scientist even suggested trying to harvest a moon from another planet, such as Jupiter's Europa. He was originally laughed at, but I think his project may contain some merit. The only question is, will he succeed before our changing tilt plunges our Earth into uncontrollable climate change that will kill all life?
